Hello!
This little note of wisdom comes to you today after having spent 3 hours at Barnes and Noble, looking over Fortune Magazine and Entrepreneuer magazine. But I also happened to pick up a book called: Crush It. By Gary Vaynerchuk.
I went down to the kids reading area with my 10 year old and we both sat and read...While TeenVogue was inspiring my daughter I simply could not take my eyes off of this fantastic little book. This guy is so spot on...on page 8 he listed 3 simple rules: LOVE YOUR FAMILY, WORK SUPERHARD, LIVE YOUR PASSION
The last rule caught my attention and I can't wait to read it in full, tonight- T.H.
As a self starting business entrepreneuer I have achieved some pretty amazing things: I started my first business Refunk Your Junk back in 1996!! Successful yes!! Because even though my partner and I didn't neccesarily make alot of money
it launched us into our next business: MorganEvanThorne which was both a blast and made us money!! Wow did we do well! Once our designs got out there some pretty well known locals like Jayne Haugen Olsen , the editor of MSP magazine( put us on the cover of the magazine in 2005), Mike Mcglynn of the famous Mcglynn bakeries found at Target ( he owns DecoPak. We did his conference rooms ), as well as just simply put- some really cool people who live well, work superhard, and yes LOVE what they do!! They could afford to hire us and we loved working for them!!
I left my painting business of 13 plus years to pursue a different and much bigger passion....I started StickyPixies
which is the most amazing thing I have ever done since , once I launched it and brought it to market in LasVegas, I was immediately picked up by this lovely company: Chasing-Fireflies. They placed so much faith in my product knowing I was new to this business and placed their first order- WOW!! I was blown away...and I didn't stop getting orders until April of this year. They stopped ordering and all of my little boutique accounts are not ordering as much as they would like to...simply can't...customers cannot afford to shop as much as they did!! BooHoo
So, this is where this little book is going to kick in...I have read about some really interesting ideas and I can't wait to share them with you!! I do know this: I love what I do. I have to work harder and I truly love my family...I can't let the markets get me down. I just have to figure out another way to get my product out there and have customers connect with it!! So that what I am going to do-
I will keep you posted-
